Marcus Braswell is a Florida native and lifelong resident.  Born in Tampa and raised in Gainesville, he fulfilled a lifelong goal by becoming an attorney.  Marcus has worked at Sugarman & Susskind since 1998.

Marcus's practice is focused on litigation relating to multiemployer and municipal employee benefit plans and labor law.  In his nearly ten years with the firm, Marcus has represented ERISA trust funds and Florida municipal retirement systems in over one hundred lawsuits in federal and state courts.  He has also resolved many other ERISA disputes through negotiation rather than litigation.  Marcus's litigation practice has brought him before federal and state courts, arbitrators, the National Labor Relations Board, the Florida Public Employees Relations Commission and other Florida state administrative agencies.  He has also represented firefighters and other public employees in disciplinary proceedings heard by cities and school boards.

Marcus is a member of the Florida Bar's Labor & Employment Law and Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Sections. He has served the Labor & Employment Section's Executive Council, sitting on its ABA Liaison and Current Legal Developments subcommittees. Marcus is a longtime member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, and an active member of the Coral Gables Bar Association.

Marcus is also active in the Miami community. He is a member of the Human Services Coalition Board of Directors, one of Miami's strongest and most active community service organizations. Marcus currently serves on another Coalition studying enforcement of wage & hour and overtime law. He has also volunteered his time to help local artists with their legal needs.

Marcus received his B.A. Degree from Duke University.  He received his law degree, cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law in the spring of 1998.  He was admitted to the Florida Bar in October 1998.  He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Florida, as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
